In a thread titled “Credibility and Impartiality of Body of Science,” (found on BodyofScience.com) several rumors and concerns regarding William Llewellyn and his upcoming book have come to light. In particular, one member has given us the “word on the street”:
Remember, you can’t always trust the word on the street, and I’d delay passing judgment until solid evidence appears. Regarding the first claim (hidden partnerships between UGs and Body of Science and William Llewellyn), I’ve heard the same thing – one name that keeps popping up is Ronny Tober, one of William Llewellyn’s authors and researchers. The rumor is that he has had (and continues to have) numerous deals and financial interests within various underground labs and sources. When I personally questioned William Llewellyn about Ronny, and asked if he dealt steroids, William responded oddly, telling me “Ronny doesn’t deal steroids to people in the United States.” (That is a verbatim quote)
The other thing I have heard, from a source (steroid dealer and lab owner) who will remain anonymous (*for now, but who is named in my book) is that he and others have bribed William Llewellyn prior to this new book coming out. He told me that the banner ads for Axio and Balkan (and others) were used as a cover for the payoffs they gave to him (i.e. he could explain the bribe money in his possession by putting up banners and saying he simply sold advertising space). This person told me that the banners were quickly removed because it was only a one-time payoff. Again, this steroid dealer claims to have bribed Mr. Llewellyn – it is only a claim, and not fact.
As for the delay in William’s new book coming out, I have no idea what is going on with that. At 12:06 PM on April 26th, William Llewellyn claimed “Just received notice all underground steroid samples arrived for testing.” and the next day, less than 24 hours later, he told us “Finalizing table of contents for UNDERGROUND ANABOLICS. Book should be at press very shortly!” I guess that’s the advantage of self-publishing (the disadvantage is that people who self publish have far less credibility – it almost looks like they can’t get a legitimate publisher).
Another poster in the so-called credibility thread has said:
All I can say is that both Axio, Balkan, and Generic Supplements have had banners, sales reps, and numerous interactions on Mr. Llewellyn’s site, and therefore, he has certainly received money from them, and at least one person has told me that the money was a straight-up bribe. And of course, it is fairly common knowledge that Mr. Llewellyn has had multiple steroid dealers and labs on his moderation staff in the past.
Throughout my history of trying to bring you the most truthful information possible, I’ve relied heavily on reader feedback, and the large cadre of friends I’ve made (yes, I consider the people who read my blog to be friends) over the years. In particular, I am sure that there are people reading my blog right now, who can help me sift through all of this – so I’m asking for your help. If you know anything about this situation, and I think it’s credible, you can make a difference and shed some light on this, and work to clear Llewellyn’s name – or bury him further.
Drop me an email, and let me know if you’ve got an inside track on anything – I’ve got more to say about this situation, but any additional information is more than welcome (and yes, this is a call-out to the BOS forum members and former staff who have helped me out in the past).
