Lee Thompson’s steroid trial schedule and dating habits (two posts in one!)

Amazingly, I get a decent amount of emails looking for updates on the Lee Thompson steroid indictment. Just to give you a refresher course, Thompson is the chair of the National Physique Committe for the state of Texas. He was narked out by Charles “Brock” Falkenhagen, and faces one count of conspiracy manufacture/possess a controlled substance (anabolic steroids) with the intent to distribute- he was also caught in possession of an amount of anabolic steroids that was over the amount considered personal use. Conspiracy is very easy to prove, and it could be as simple as him saying “Yeah, I can get you some Tren” and then buying (or attempting to buy) a bottle of Tren. Right now, there is a man who has served almost two years in a Texas jail for two counts of possession of Trenbolone (Shawn Nathan Shipman).

Remember, the government has a 95%+ conviction rate, and it’s almost always a stupid move to take them to trial. But that’s exactly what Thompson is preparing to do, so here’s his court dates and schedule:

• Motions will be filed by September 16th (2009)
• Responses will be filed by September 30th
• Pretrial conference is set for November 2nd
• Voir Dire and jury instructions are set for November 3rd
• Jury Selection and trial are set for November 10th

At this point I’d like to plug my upcoming book, and say that it will be released on October 1st, and Lee Thompson is mentioned a couple of times…

Oh, and before I forget, I’d like to congratulate Lee Thompson on his recent marriage to former NPC competitor Stacey Oster, now Stacey Oster-Thompson, who earned her IFBB status and Bikini Procard at the 2009 NPC JR USA, where her now-husband was a judge.Prior to dating Stacey, Lee Thompson had been an item with numerous other competitors, each of whom did very well competing in various shows that Lee judged – one of whom was  (almost) Valerie Waugaman.

On January 2nd, 2008, Thompson announced on his MySpace Blog that Valerie was going to return to physique competitions:

Get ready for the fire works in Houston, TX on July 4-5, 2008. This is the second year of the contest, but this year we will host a Men’s Pro Bodybuilding and a Men’s 202 lbs and under class as well as woman’s fitness. Of course we will have the return of woman’s figure where Valerie Waugaman will attempt to defend her title. For those of you who are not aware, Valerie is one of our new American Gladitors which will area this winter.

Followed by an announcement on February 2nd, 2008, by  Lonnie Teper of Iron Man Magazine announcing that Lee and Valerie were dating:

Texas State Chairman Lee Thompson verified in Los Angeles over the weekend that he and Valerie Waugaman are definitely an item…

Unfortunately, they broke up and she didn’t compete. However, he had started dating Monique Minton in 2008 as well, and she ended up winning the John Sherman Classic, a Texas based show that Lee was judging and helping promote. It’s kind of weird that Valerie was only going to do the show when she was dating the guy who would be judging her, in the state where he runs the show, and then dropped out of it, only to have his next girlfriend win her class in the amateur division. But in his defense, it must be difficult judging someone who you are romantically involved with, and still be impartial. But somehow, Lee manages to do it, every time, and give his girlfriends first place at every show he judges! Great job all around guys, and I sure hope Lee turns out alright with his upcoming trial in November. He’s done so much to bring credibility and honor to bodybuilding….
