Patrick Arnold: BALCO chemist gets in fight at the 2009 Mr. Olympia contest
Patrick Arnold, former BALCO chemist and current subject of a federal steroid investigation, has received a lifetime ban from the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas for getting in a 5am fight with someone connected with the website Bodybuilding.com. In the chemist’s own words:
“i wrestled someone connected with bb.com (forgot his name) in an empty dining room at about 5am and we knocked down 3 or 4 fully set tables. lots of broken glass. i thought we were going to jail. he paid for damages though. he was kinda responsible cuz he was the guy who insisted we wrestle cuz he felt guilty about his cheap shot he gave me in boise in 2008. he wanted me to have my chance to set things straight with him and i suppose i did cuz he was the one that was on his back when we finally landed. the match lasted only about 20 seconds though”
Given that the fight took place at 5am, my assumption is that there was alcohol involved. I should note that the last good story I’d heard about Patrick Arnold’s ‘Vegas antics involved him overdosing on GHB at a MetRx conference, and convulsing in a puddle of his own vomit (thanks to Michael Mooney for the great story!).
What happens in ‘Vegas, apparently does not stay there.
