Anthony Roberts impersonator – imitation is the weirdest form of flattery
It would appear that people are going to great lengths to impersonate me. It all started a few years ago, when IBE opened up a website made to look like my own personal site, in an attempt to lampoon me. It would have actually been funny….well, if it was clever. instead it was just more of their bourbon-soaked-bayou nonsense. Oh well…then there were a few people on Twitter using my name and likeness to set up fake Twitter accounts…and now, most recently, someone has gone hog wild setting up multiple user names on Hilpers.org, and pretending to be me…to out a “scammer.” I’d like to clear the record here and say that I have no idea who this person is, but to the best of my relatively-sober knowledge, it isn’t me.
I’d also like to mention that using someone else’s name falsely, and trying to “out” a “scammer” is pretty deceptive in and of itself…and to my way of thinking, it casts doubt on the person who has claimed that they were scammed. Here’s the thread, if you’re interested in seeing what I’m talking about. But for the record, that “Anthony Roberts” is not me, and I certainly would not accuse the company in question of scamming me.
The really bizarre thing about this whole incident is that after someone impersonates me, another guy comes on, also impersonating me, and claiming to be the real me, and outs the first (?) impostor as a fake. There’s like 3 different people in that thread claiming to be me, none of whom are…me, that is. A couple other versions of “me” seem to be running buck wild with outing scammers on that site, and if you check their bodybuilding forum, you’ll see that “Anthony Roberts” has started half a dozen threads accusing people of being scammers. None of those people (persons?) are me either. I don’t know why someone has chosen to use my name to launch a one-man war against scammers on some obscure message board that I’ve never heard of, but I can assure you that it wasn’t/isn’t me.
The “me” who is “me” and writes this blog every day, i.e. the Anthony Roberts who writes about steroids…or whatever. Anyway, whoever I am, I am not the person (or persons) who are claiming to be me elsewhere.
