There’s nothing I love more than having people read what I’ve written and getting a response. I don’t care if it’s positive or negative – for the most part – I only care that I’ve produced something that generated a reaction. Not everybody is going to agree with me or like what I have to say, and that’s totally fine with me – I realize that there are a lot of things I write that other people would rather be kept off the public radar. It’s part of being an author, and even the best ones in the world have their critics.
Most commonly, people need to read what I’ve written before they react; but not always. I was shocked to discover that five of the most recognizable names in the steroid world have all contacted my publisher and threatened legal action against us…all related to Generation S, which none of them have read. I’ll leave it up to you to decide what’s going on here…but I think it’s pretty obvious that these people think that I’m going to expose them for what they are. And of course, they’re scared…running scared, trying to do anything they can to keep their names out of Generation S. It’s a desperate move – threatening a lawsuit without having read the book.
As a point of note, another ECW Press author is facing similar threats at the moment…but from one of the biggest and most powerful organizations in the United States: The WWE. Yes, World Wrestling Entertainment…they’re trying to stop his latest book, Chris and Nancy, from being published. In short, what I’m saying here is that ECW is no stranger to being threatened with lawsuits…and as you’ve probably figured out already, they’re not in the business of yielding to threats. And how did this other ECW author respond to the WWE threatening him? He published their legal threats on Twitter!
ECW running scared of the WWE? Hardly.
Running scared of the steroid industry? Hardly.
And I’ll be perfectly frank when I say that everything I may have written about the people who are threatening myself and my publisher is completely true; it would seem that the truth is something that concerns these people greatly – specifically, they’re concerned with making sure the truth about them never sees the light of day. It’s sad and pathetic, and reeks of desperation. They’re trying to keep you from finding out what really happens in this industry. ECW Press is my publisher and my partner in this book, but I need to stress that YOU are MY boss. When you put your money down for one of my products, you become my boss. There is no simpler way for me to explain this – other than to say that I WORK FOR YOU. And because I value that relationship, ECW and myself need to insure you receive the best possible product – even if that means delaying the release date of Generation S.
So now the lawyers are involved. My publisher is taking their time to make everything in the book completely transparent, to insure that there’s no miscommunication or misinterpretation possible…and of course, to double and triple check all of the facts I’m presenting. Both my ECW and myself want to give you guys the best possible book, and at this point, that means involving lawyers and pushing our release date until February. Remember….the book hasn’t even been read by these people yet, and they’re running scared and doing anything they can to keep their names out of it. Well, they’ve succeeded in delaying the release – but nothing more.
So my heartfelt apologies go out to anyone who had hoped to be cracking the spine on Generation S today…we’ve encountered some unavoidable delays, but in the end, you’re going to get a great book. If you were looking for a way to show your support, just order a copy – it’s about $13 bucks from Amazon.com…and when you get the book you’ll understand why everyone is trying to keep their names out of it…don’t worry…they can run but they can’t hide.
“Anthony Roberts is the real deal, a guy who knows which dark alleys you can walk down and which bright lights to avoid. He knows all the good guys and the bad guys and has the best drug of all in his pocket — information.”
— Will Carroll, author of The Juice
“Anthony Roberts takes us where modern America doesn’t want to go, inside the global culture of anabolic-steroid use and more muscle doping. The author’s experience as a juicer coupled with his research and writing make a fascinating read, including on Internet dealing of performance-enhancing drugs.”
~ Matt Chaney, Author of Spiral of Denial
Anthony Roberts just happens to be in possession of one of the hottest knives (his pen) and carves right through it. He is perhaps one of the bravest men writing in our strange, sport-driven culture today. I am not waiting for a complimentary copy of “Generation S.” I will be one of the first to fork out and buy my own when it is released!
~Randy Roach, Author of “Muscle, Smoke, & Mirrors”
“In order to write the truth about the underground world of performance enhancing drugs you have to abandon any hope of coming away with any friends.
Roberts has always held the truth as his biggest commodity and as a result made lots of enemies in the process. In the end the reader gets an unparalleled look into the little understood world of anabolic steroid trade and use. Unlike many other would-be authors on this subject, Roberts has actively lived inside the world he writes about and doesn’t depend upon the vicarious relationships that have a tendency to twist the truth in favor of a bias.
This book is sure to become a cult best seller.”
~Carl Lanore, host of Superhuman Radio
“If you want the truth behind the nutritional supplement industry, sports doping, bodybuilding and the characters involved in that industry, be sure to check out Anthony Roberts’ newest book! Unlike some other books written of this genre, Generation S reads like a bestselling novel. Roberts creativity as a writer shows through from the very first page! This book will captivate readers… From the jaded industry insider to Joe Smith on the street…”
~Aaron Singerman, Host of Off-Topic
“Anthony does it again: insightful, funny, realistic, and relevant. No other writer today captures the street-level view of the world of anabolic steroids like AR. You might love him or hate him, but you can’t say AR is irrelevant!!! The truth is that steroids are part of our modern culture; people like Anthony attack the ignorant stereotypes and paradigms that surround AAS.”
