Ok…maybe “raid” wasn’t the right word. But several months ago, I informed you that there was some kind of federal law enforcement activity related to the companies “Bulk Nutrition” (BulkNutrition.com) and “Muscle Master” (MuscleMaster.com) …which are all owned jointly by the same person…at the time I had thought it was a raid. They responded in typical bully fashion by having their lawyer attempt to intimidate and mislead me into thinking that nothing had happened (unsuccessfully)…I responded by saying that I was convinced that they had been involved in some kind of federal law enforcement activity, and that was my final blog post on the topic. I didn’t cave into their demands to remove my blog posts, nor change my story, because I had a gut feeling that their lawyer was a deceptive sack of sh*t.
Ultimately, they worked overtime trying to hide whatever had actually happened…they had posts removed from the Bodybuilding.com forums, and demanded once again (ha ha) that I remove my post about them. But now, it seems that if I wasn’t right back then, I must have been working my crystal ball overtime, using my tarot cards, and taking a spin around the old Ouija board, because the SAME company, this time under the name “Affordable Supplements” (AffordableSupplements.com) has been raided for sure, at their Wichita, Kansas warehouse location. Of course, AffordableSupplements.com, BulkNutrition.com, and MuscleMaster.com are all owned by the same parent company, who also owns several other online supplement retail sites (CheapVitamins.com, WholesaleSupplementStore.com, OverstockedSupplements.com, etc…)
I did quite a bit of legwork into that story, even contacting the FDA and DEA in an attempt to find out what happened (blog post here). The company even had a representative inform me that “they were going back and forth” at the time, trying to figure out what happened. I now think this was all bullsh*t, because they’ve just been raided by the same law enforcement agency that I originally said had paid them a visit.
Coincidence?
(Say it with me….)
I THINK NOT!
In fact, this is not the first time AffordableSupplements.com has been in trouble; in 2003, the FDA issued them a warning letter.
Here’s what we know so far that has been reported by the mainstream media, about the raid on AffordableSupplements.com:
Drug Enforcement Administration agents have raided a warehouse in Wichita, apparently looking for illegal substances. Local DEA agents tell Eyewitness News they’re assisting with an investigation out of Boston, Massachusetts.
Workers at the Affordable Supplements warehouse at 10th & Mosely tell Eyewitness News they were ready to go into the building for work at around 8:00 this morning when DEA agents showed up. Employees say they were each questioned one-by-one.
Once again, for the record, I was right, I stood up for myself, and I was proven right in the end. I don’t even really give a sh*t about this particular raid anymore, but I’m glad that there’s finally something on the record that vindicates what I told you half a year ago. I take my credibility very seriously, and I don’t respond well to bullies. So f*ck ‘em. I’m f*cking glad they got raided. And I’m glad I get to keep my (perfect) record intact.
If and when I get more information about this, I’ll update you…but thanks for sticking by me, even when it looked like I might have gotten things a bit wrong (which it turns out I didn’t)…and thanks to the reader who directed me to this recent story.
